The Stevenson Trail: The Legacy of the Logbook
The Stevenson Trail: More Than a Trek, a Legacy
The GR70, better known as the Stevenson Trail, is not just a hike. It is an immersion in history, following the footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson who, in 1878, crossed the Cévennes with his donkey Modestine.
Stevenson didn't just walk; he wrote. His logbook, which became the famous book "Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes", is the soul of this trail. In it, he recounts his invention of the modern sleeping bag — his "green caravanserais" — and his tumultuous yet complicit relationship with his donkey Modestine.
A Meeting Under the Sign of Ethics
Recently, AdvenBook had the honor of talking with the Association on the Trail of Robert Louis Stevenson. What is immediately striking is their visceral attachment to ethics and the preservation of the traveler's spirit.
The modern 272 km route, divided into 14 stages from Le Puy-en-Velay to Alès, is a true laboratory for sustainable tourism. For them, and for us, the adventure does not end at the last mile. It lives on through the story we tell.
The 21st Century Logbook
The question was asked: "Can we still write by hand in your books?"
The answer is a resounding YES. At AdvenBook, we believe in the fusion of the digital and the tangible.
- GPS Precision: Your 7,655 meters of cumulative elevation gain and Strava tracks automatically imported for geographic accuracy.
- The Warmth of Ink: Our books are designed on 170g/m² semi-matte paper, ideal for your handwritten notes, sketches, or the stamps of your stages.
A Commitment to Local
Ethics also means manufacturing. Just as Stevenson sought the authenticity of the Cévennes, AdvenBook is committed to European production (France, Germany) to guarantee a reduced footprint and artisanal quality.
A Partnership in the Making
We are currently working with the Association to integrate official historical visuals directly into your future books. Imagine your own route log, enriched by the official iconography of the trail you have just trodden.
Preparing for the GR70? Don't let your photos sleep in your phone. Turn your crossing into a true legacy.
